When
Tuesday 25 August
Time
14:00 to 16:30
Length
2.5 hours

An afternoon of drawing as meditation, led by an artist who spent years as a Buddhist monk. Short partner exercises tune your hand to a slower kind of attention, then two longer sessions give you the room to make a piece of your own, charged with an intention. It comes home with you afterwards, to sit somewhere as a support for your own practice.

In this workshop Mischa will share how to apply self inquiry through an artistic group experience, and reveal your own potential to create a meditative art piece that you will be able to take home with you and enjoy as a support for your personal meditations.

The workshop will offer three smaller group or partner exercises that will gently introduce you to sensitive drawing, and then dive into two longer meditative drawing sessions in which you will create your personal piece of art, charged with an intention to create inner well being.

Art meditation encourages mindfulness, as individuals concentrate on the act of creating without judgment. That focus on the present moment can enhance your overall sense of awareness and presence.

Making art is also a form of self-exploration. It reveals insights into your own thoughts, emotions and inner experiences, and can become a tool for self-discovery and personal growth.

It is a social activity too. Drawing alongside other people, and sharing what comes out of it, is a large part of what the afternoon is.
